Hello and welcome! My name is Van Overbay
and I am the creator of History
In Action Games™.
As a life-long artist and game enthusiast, one of the
best things that ever happened to me was that I was
taught to play chess at an early age. As a youth, I
won back-to-back state chess championships and by the
time I was in high-school, I loved to play all types
of games ranging from Axis & Allies®
and D&D®, to Rook®
and poker.
In
1996, I began creating a history-based card/board game
with the intention of bridging the gap between complex
hobby/war games, collectible card games, and classic
board games that are entertaining and strategically
satisfying. The game was called MOONSHOT
The Game and it hit the market in 1998. It
received great awards and reviews and we sold-out of
the first print run of 5,000. In 2001, I purchased the
artwork of an early eighteenth century map of the Caribbean
for a pirate game I was developing called SeaRovers™.
In 2002, I began to expand and refine the design of
MOONSHOT, and last
year renamed the new edition Tranquility
Base™.
Today,
after several years of hard work, I’m now proud
to announce the release of Tranquility
Base™,
The Exciting Game of
America’s Race to the Moon, and SeaRovers™,
The Exciting Game of Real Pirates & Buccaneers.
Both new board games are available now in Limited Editions
and Rapid-Pro Game Kits. I’ll tell you more in
the next few days!

Van
Overbay
President / Game Designer
Van
studied art and design at New York’s Pratt
Institute, The University of Tennessee and The
Atlanta College of Art where he received a Bachelors
degree in Communication Design. During his agency
life, Van headed studios for advertising firms
in Atlanta, Chattanooga, and Colorado where
he produced work for clients such as Coca-Cola
and Columbia HCA.
