MOONSHOT The Game | SeaRovers™ | Testimonials

SeaRovers looks better than a lot of professionally published games I’ve seen over the past year—I could have been told that the copy I played was a pre-pub copy of a Fantasy Flight game and I would have completely believed it. Mr. Overbay himself did all of the graphic design (including extensive revisions of period maps and artwork), typesetting, and layout and once again the finished product really demonstrates the importance of modern, accomplished graphic design in our hobby. SeaRovers looks and feels professional in every sense of the word. SeaRovers is a good, solid game...It should also be noted that I do think SeaRovers is arguably the best pirate game currently on the market.” — Michael B.

I enjoyed SeaRovers quite a bit. The pirate genre is surprisingly lacking in terms of decent board games, and this fills a nice little gap of ‘pirate adventure games.’ The fact that it’s full of interesting flavor text increases its appeal...I truly believe that this is the best adventure themed pirate game on the market right now, and as someone who is looking into self-publishing a few games in the future I find that very encouraging.” — Connor A.

I went to Atlanta Game Fest last weekend and had the opportunity to sit with game designer Van Overbay and get a demo of SeaRovers from him...A lot of time was spent on developing this game and it shows. All cards have a small history flavor text that is included on the cards. The history is only meant to enhance the game and you do not have to know anything about real life pirates to play the game. No need to know when Captain Kidd’s birthday was (I have no idea) or where Queen Anne’s Revenge is sunk (again, no idea). The designer however tried to find these details and included them where they made sense like combat locations at the same spot of where it actually occurred. This level of detail makes me appreciate the game even more...this is a fun game to play and I recommend it! — Jeff J.

When I saw SeaRovers being set up it gave off the impression of a very involved game with lots of fiddly elements that would last for ages. But the game was actually simple and enjoyable and the cards had lots of flavor text. Good design, good mechanics, good theme. Good game.” — Jared P.

“SeaRovers is fun with EXCELLENT artwork and lots a historically accurate details. Could play friendly, or very cutthroat, depending on your tastes. If you like pirates I highly recommend! — Patrick D.

“Marvelous swashbuckling game, bringing a lot of atmosphere to the gaming table. Great artwork and components, especially for a game that is self-published—it is a real joy to sail on a historical map of the Caribbean!” — Benjamin H.

“Really nice. Fun, lots of interaction and with loads of strategic decisions!” — Ricardo R.
